VACCARI PERLE

My name is Eleonora Vaccari.

I am a glass designer. I research, design, and produce items that I use to assemble for my creations.
Designing glass is very emotional for me; I touch it. I feel. I live it. I breathe it.
In my free time, I observe everything that surrounds me. I am constantly seeking inspiration and ideas, looking for the beauty and magic of colours to replicate and use in my compositions. I use the reflection from light and the infinite nuances generated by glass. I create to enchant myself; I create to charm.

I was born and raised in Venice, Italy.  Venice has always been characterized by the combination of glass and art, to which it is deeply linked to.  Living in one of the most beautiful, envied, and dense cities in the world, has not only nurtured my fond enthusiasm and love for art, but it has also ignited my continuous and relentless pursuit of artistic beauty.

One could say I’ve inherited a passion for glass, as it runs deep within my family genes. My great-grandfather started working with glass in 1915, when he was hired to work at the “Società Veneziana per l’Industria delle Conterie,” which means Venetian Society of Glass Beads Crafting.  The Society was known as the “Conterie Veneziane,” and was founded on the island of Murano in 1898 by 17 glass bead producers. It was here that my great-grandfather learned the art of making glass beads with a floral design, that was mainly produced to adorn cemeteries belonging to French colonies.

My great-grandfather Augusto Vaccari later started his own business that included his three sons, who also shared the same passion for glass. The company was named “Vaccari,” and established in Venice, and has become renowned for its high quality and original production of artistic glass beads. Remarkably, even after the 1992 closing of my great-grandfather’s predecessor “Conterie Veneziane,” Vaccari was one of two historical companies manufacturing glass beads that remained active; the second company being Ercole Moretti & F.IIi.

In 1964, after years of training and studying colors and materials, Antonio Vaccari launched a jewellery line that was greatly successful and was distributed by the most prestigious department stores across Europe and America, definitively affirming Vaccari as a leader in the Venice glass beads industry.

I remember watching my grandmother create jewellery when I was little. Watching her combine colours and shapes literally mesmerized me. Each bead was a unique and irreplicable piece of art, handmade with expert craftsmanship. Using glass masters that had a lot of experience and passion gave birth to truly incomparable pieces of art that had inimitable transparency and colours of Murano glass; no two beads are identical.  Be it a tiny bubble, a colour tone, a different light reflection, or a magical texture, each pearl and each Vaccari creation is different and original.

Later in 1965, during the Italian economic boom, my father Giampaolo Vaccari took over the reins of the company.  Continuing the family tradition of having a crescendo of passion, prestige, and creativity, my father increasingly expanded the Vaccari brand with glass bead jewellery. In the small workshop in Venice, he relentlessly designed and created unique pieces entirely handmade using the “a lume” technique, with the inclusion of gold and silver leaf.

When I joined the company in 1997, my father was looking for a renewed image, including updated marketing and external relations, but above all, he wanted to give Vaccari a more modern and cosmopolitan touch to the new designs. He asked me to collaborate with him to develop new ideas, create new original collections, and design presentations for the international market. Giving me carte blanche for this new endeavour, I worked closely with my cousin Massimiliano Diana, who became an invaluable collaborator, and we decided to introduce the production of glass elements to the fashion industry. We soon started working with the greatest names in Italian fashion and became a benchmark in the world of glass jewellery.

Our desire to share our passion, ideas, and enthusiasm, grew over the years and our glass components became increasingly specific and refined, which paved the way for Vaccari to launch a new jewellery collection called VERO JEWELS in 2010.

VERO: one word, different meanings.
In Italian, VERO means real, authentic, and pure.
VERO is also the word for glass in Venetian dialect.
One word defines both the material we work with and its most valuable features: the same characteristics are at the heart of Vaccari’s values… of real (VERO) Italian style… authentically (VERO) “Made in Italy.”

The demands of the market and its continuous expansion has stimulated and encouraged us to grow further, always keeping the passion for glass, the cornerstone handed down by four generations, at the heart of what we make. My father continuously teaches me to improve my techniques, and I continue to refine the perfection of forms, the imagination of colours, and the quality and originality of my artefacts.

But this was not enough for me. I started combining glass with metals, threads, and other innovative and dynamic materials and I assemble the pieces lead by my imagination. I am inspired by everything I observe and contemplate, and everything I can feel; art, poetry, magic, beauty… life.

The inspiration that has shaped my first VERO JEWELS collections, still stimulates me today with all of my new projects and new models, and remains, forever appreciated.
My work does not end when I finish creating a piece of jewellery; it ends when the jewellery is worn. It is complete when a long lasting emotional bond happens between the jewellery and the person who chose it as a special mark of distinction and perfection of its unique aesthetic image.

Every woman has that “perfect” piece of jewellery…. I would be honoured to be the designer that gave her that.

We have open a new store in Venice, Campo San Polo 1970… A new project start, a new adventure…

VACCARI PERLE

VERO come reale. VERO come autentico. VERO come puro.
